1974 Mark 3 Ducati 450 cc.
NOTE: This is not the Desmo model that it is listed as, as BikeSales don't have the option for us to list this bike under its correct model name. The Desmo model is very tricky to set up so the people who lusted after these bikes back in the day have come to the realisation that these are every bit as good and much easier to live with. This is why we've seen prices climb in the past decade and why they will continue to climb.
Our bike was originally purchased by a WA gent in 2010. He travelled from Australia to the UK to acquire it and rode it around the Italian Alps 2012 before bringing it back to Oz.
The motor was rebuilt by George Poole who is a well known Ducati Aficionado in Perth in 2018. The current owner purchased it from the estate in 2020. It has had less than 1000kms put on it since the rebuild.
The original Smiths clocks show 9,223kms. 1974 was the end of the tiny production run of 287 and it saw Ducati use parts from alternative sources; the clocks being an excellent example. In previous years, Veglia clocks were used. The clip on bars were a popular factory option instead of the flat bars and suits the style of the bike.
The wheels are original Italian Radrelli fitted with period correct, sticky Dunlop Roadmaster TT100 tyres.
This bike starts first kick although there is a specific but simple process to it which you will be shown upon purchase.
A highly sought after piece of motorcycling history that has been kept in the loungeroom for the past few years. It deserves to be in a museum but we'd like to see it used and cherished by its new owner.
We can carefully crate the bike and organise freight anywhere in Australia from just $650.
We can also organise to have it shipped anywhere in the world. POA
Trade ins will be considered and we can even organise finance.
Genuine inquiries only please. If you would like to nit pick details or pass judgement on the bike, advertisement or price, please save everyone's time and keep it to yourself.
