Test Rider Opinion: As the person who maintains the showroom and manages new and used bikes, I am in the fortunate position of having to ride the used bikes before I list them for sale. I like to find out if there is anything wrong with the bike so we have the opportunity to fix it before we sell it. I also like to share my experience on the bike with potential purchasers.
I first rode the bike from Hutton St in to Officeworks. A very short distance where I probably didn't get out of third gear. It's been a long time since I've ridden a bike that powerful. That small taste of mayhem wouldn't leave my head. I kept a look out for the first day that wasn't wet and I grabbed the keys and rode it home to explore the bikes capability.
The first thing that impressed me is the ability to change between the 3 riders modes on the fly. I didn't need to stop or turn the bike off to change the mode. Brilliant. Acceleration is unbelievable, I don't know why anyone would want more. The only problem with this bike is its like the worm that ate half of JFK Jr's brain, once it gets into your head, it's not coming out. I reckon that's a good thing.

The 2016 Yamaha XSR900 is a neo-retro machine that blends classic styling with cutting-edge performance. Unlike the Triumph Street Triple, which leans more toward sportsbike aggression, the XSR900 offers a more versatile upright ride with a character-rich 847cc triple-cylinder engine that delivers a perfect mix of torque, speed, and smoothness. Compared to the Ducati Monster 821, the Yamaha is lighter, less temperamental, and far more affordable to maintain—without sacrificing performance or handling. And where the Kawasaki Z900 may offer brute power, the XSR900 counters with refined agility, advanced electronics, and real-world rideability that shines both in the city and on weekend twisties.
This particular 2016 model is a standout with its unique vintage-inspired design, factory electronics suite (including ABS, traction control, and multiple riding modes), and a proven reliability record that puts some of its European rivals to shame. Whether you're chasing curves, commuting, or just parking up at the café, the XSR900 offers the perfect mix of heritage looks and modern performance. A future classic in the making—don't miss your chance to own one of the most well-balanced and talked-about bikes in its class.
The bike comes with an aftermarket pipe and a tail tidy fitted. Sadly, the stock exhaust does not come with the bike.
